Industrial Design is an area that emphasis on the aesthetic value of goods/household products which are mass produced. The course covers design concept, workshop technology, scale modeling, engineering, production and manufacturing methods.

The Diploma in Industrial Design is a program that develops students' capability in three-dimensional design. We are surrounded by products - from the watch on your wrist and the furniture in your house to the car you drive. Product design, also known as industrial design, is a subject that allows you to conceptualize and design new consumer electronics - such as hand phones, audio and multimedia products - has created opportunities for designers who are able to generate new, innovative and creative ideas that can successfully compete internationally.

A industrial designer gives form and function to a product. He gives a product an identity that can communicate to the customer and provide a specific function. Student will gain and understanding of form and function, color, market research and consumer demand, new technology, material and cultural studies. Students are exposed to a wide range of international project ranging from electronic consumer product, furniture, transportation, lightning to toy design, and packaging.

Student will learn to execute projects in a professional manner from presentation sketches, research reports, visuals, computer generated 3D model and actual prototypes. Students will also learn the technical side of manufacturing and materials in order to produce practical design. Many of the project work directly with industry to give student practical exposure to 'live' project and they require skills and knowledge to enter into the global design network.
